Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac announced on Tuesday a moratorium on evictions for single-family foreclosed homes for the holiday season.

The GSEs said evictions will not be enforced from December 17, 2014, until January 2, 2015, for single-family homes that have been foreclosed on, meaning that families living in those homes will be able to continue to live there during that two-week period. Both GSEs said that legal and administrative proceedings related to the eviction process may continue during that period even though the eviction itself will not be carried out.

“As in previous years, we believe it is important to extend the timeline of help for struggling borrowers during the holidays,” said Joy Cianci, SVP of Credit Portfolio Management for Fannie Mae. ”If you are in trouble or facing foreclosure, reach out to Fannie Mae or your servicer today to get help. There are more options than ever before to avoid foreclosure. We want to help struggling borrowers whenever possible.”

Your home is probably the biggest asset you own. This is why you should hire a professional to guide you through all your real estate transactions. My goal is to help 24 to 28 families each year either buy or sell a home. I am NOT interested in Selling 100 or 200 homes a year because I would not be able to give each family the time, attention and energy they deserve. I would also lose touch with my past clients and would not be available to help where needed. I take pride in working personally and individually with each of my clients. Once you are my client, you will work me from the beginning to the end of the transaction. When you call, you will get me directly, not my assistant or secretary. I have been a financial and real estate consultant for the past 30 years and have specialized in loan loss mitigation, short sale negotiation and REO marketing since 2005. Home Improvements and Which Ones to Do

Whether you plan to sell in the near future, or just want to improve the value of your home, here is one low cost improvement you should consider.
Opportunity Knocks. Still opening the front door with a flimsy standard-issue knob? Choose a hearty piece of hardware that emphasizes sturdiness, in a bold color that says, Ć“look at me!ƶ Refinish the front door with a bright hue, or faux finish a steel door to look like wood for a refreshing first impression.

An Easy Appliance Fix – Without Calling an Expert

Fixing a chip in a Porcelain Appliance or Fixture

Tiny chips and dings on expensive porcelain fixtures and appliances are distressing-but fixable. With a few careful dabs of touch-up glaze and a little sanding and buffing you can make those ugly blemishes vanish.
Glazes that match the original manufacturer’s colors nearly perfectly are available (or can be ordered) from home centers, hardware stores and paint suppliers.
Clean the damaged area with soap and water, rinse and let dry. Thoroughly mix the touch-up glaze. Dab the glaze onto the damaged area with the enclosed applicator brush, and let it dry for 24 hours. Repeat, if necessary, until the damaged area is filled, letting the glaze completely dry before recoating. Lightly sand the area smooth with the sandpaper enclosed in the kit, and then buff it with a soft cloth.
